This week, a professional workshop took place at our faculty, during which the research teams supported in the internal faculty challenge focused on artificial intelligence had the opportunity to discuss their projects with experts from Microsoft.
The workshop followed up on the recently signed memorandum of understanding between FEI STU and Microsoft Slovakia, which aims to support the development of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cloud technologies. Thanks to this cooperation, the research teams gained access to professional consultations and hands-on experience from experts at one of the world's leading technology companies.
The consultations were intended for projects supported in the internal faculty challenge, within which FEI STU allocated 800,000 euros from its own resources to support 14 innovative research teams. The challenge focuses on strategic development areas such as artificial intelligence, energy, cybersecurity, telemedicine, and cooperation with industry.
Počas workshopu sa diskutovalo o širokom spektre výskumných tém, medzi ktoré patrili napríklad:
- inteligentná predikcia životnosti batériových systémov,
- dôveryhodné AI metódy pre personalizovanú medicínu,
- optimalizácia energetickej bilancie budov pomocou AI,
- modelovanie výkonových prvkov pre Priemysel 5.0 a inteligentnú mobilitu,
- analýza a predikcia finančných dát,
- generovanie tréningových dát pre kybernetickú bezpečnosť,
- využitie AI pri ochrane kritickej infraštruktúry v jadrovej energetike,
- prepájanie výskumu, vzdelávania a priemyslu v oblasti AI,
- autonómne mobilné vozidlá a AI platformy pre autonómne systémy.
During the workshop, a wide spectrum of research topics was discussed, which included for example:
- intelligent prediction of battery system life cycles,
- trustworthy AI methods for personalized medicine,
- optimization of the energy balance of buildings using AI,
- modeling of power components for Industry 5.0 and smart mobility,
- analysis and prediction of financial data,
- generation of training data for cybersecurity,
- use of AI in protecting critical infrastructure in nuclear power,
- linking research, education, and industry in the field of AI,
- autonomous mobile vehicles and AI platforms for autonomous systems.
The discussion focused on the possibilities of using state-of-the-art AI technologies, approaches to developing and deploying artificial intelligence models, as well as the potential of using Microsoft cloud services and tools in the execution of individual projects.
The workshop represents another concrete step in developing the cooperation between FEI STU and Microsoft Slovakia, while also supporting the faculty's ambition to build strong research teams capable of delivering innovative solutions with an impact on both society and industry.
