From June 24 to June 26, 2026, the 31st annual international conference Applied Physics of Condensed Matter – APCOM 2026 took place at the Hotel Patria in Štrbské Pleso. The conference continued a series of professional events that began in 1995 with the workshop Solid State Physics and Radioactive Irradiation.
The conference also included the 9th international scientific workshop Current Successes in Photoemission and Electron Microscopy, the 8th international conference Advances in Nuclear Engineering, and a project meeting of the DANUBE project focused on the development of semiconductor detectors. These co-located events created a space for interdisciplinary cooperation and professional discussion among researchers from various fields of physics and engineering.
The scientific program featured numerous contributions from both domestic and foreign authors. The lectures and presentations covered topics such as Timepix pixel detectors, radiation-induced defects, materials research for nuclear technologies, topological and magnetic materials, nanomaterials, optical sensors, and photonics applications. At the same time, the conference provided a platform for establishing new scientific partnerships, exchanging experiences, and presenting the latest research results.
APCOM 2026 once again confirmed its position among the prominent international scientific events organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of STU, contributing to the development of scientific cooperation and raising the visibility of research results from Slovak and foreign institutions.
