Recently, a roundtable discussion on the topic of Women in Energy was held at the Embassy of the United States of America, led by the Honorary Chair Ann K. Grazer, who serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation at the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance at the Department of State. She is a diplomat who reinforces the idea of a global regime for the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and supports the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Fifteen women from academic and practical backgrounds participated in the meeting, representing companies such as SE, a.s., ZSE, a.s., the Ministry of Economy, SNUS, and others. Our Institute of Nuclear and Physical Engineering was represented by Assoc. Prof. Ing. Andrea Šagátová, PhD., Ing. Jana Šimeg Veterníková, PhD., and three students from the field of Nuclear and Physical Engineering: Nina Borošová, Nikola Schmidtová, and Yaroslava Polishchuk.
During the meeting, discussions focused on how to help girls and women establish themselves in the field of energy and support their interest in technical sciences. The meeting concluded with expressions of mutual interest in further collaboration and maintaining contact among the present Slovak participants.
